Guy-Patrice started playing sports as soon as he could stand on his two feet. He had his first contact with the martial arts at the age of eight and loved watching Bruce and Jet Lee in Chinese Wushu movies--that's how his passion for contact sports took hold. In 1990, Guy-Patrice started training in Sankukai/ Nanbudo under Sensei Foko in Yaounde, Cameroon. He is a Gracie Academy Certified Instructor and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt, a black belt in Sankukai/Nanbudo, Taekwondo, Karate Kyokushin. He is also a brown belt in Judo, has trained and taught Thai-Boxing and was a black belt instructor in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MACMAP). Guy Discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1993 and took his first formal class with Gustavo Machado at Gracie Barra Virginia Beach in 2003. Due to the nature of his job in the Marines, Guy-Patrice could not train consistently until 2005 when he started training regularly with John Danaher at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City. Guy taught Martial arts to children and adults all over the world and has won multiple state, national, and international level tournaments in different martial arts. In addition to the United States, Guy-Patrice has lived in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Japan, and France where he trained, competed, and taught different Martial Arts styles. He moved to the US in 1997 and subsequently joined the Marine Corps. While serving our country, Guy was captain of the All Marines Taekwondo team and a member of the All Armed Forces Taekwondo Team. As a Black Belt Combat Instructor in the Marines, He taught and certified more than nine hundred Marines in the Marine Corps Martial Art Program (MCMAP). Having hands-on experience and training has allowed him to better incorporate the mental and technical side of martial arts in his teaching.
